Vithagan Movie Review
Parthiban had to go through a long sabbatical interval and is back now with the attempts of making a film in his style. ‘Vithagan’ is produced by Seventh Channel Manickam Narayanan with Parthiban handling story, screenplay, dialogues, lyrics and direction. Poorna gets to play the role of female lead character. Bollywood actor Milind Soman after winning laurels his performance in ‘Pacchaikili Muthucharam’ and ‘Paiyya’ is back now with the same role.

Story :

The film revolves around a sincere police officer Roudran (Parthiban), assistant commissioner of police handling the baddies in his own route. Since it isn’t going to be an easy task to them legally, he uses his smart brain to tackle them down. Of course, he manages to bump them in a stealth way. Then his real intention behind becoming police officer is revealed as his honest father, an ex-cop gave up his job due to the brutal acts of Badri (Milind Soman), a local thug, who is now an internal Mafia Lord. How Roudran uses his smart tactics and settle the scores form crux of the story.
Parthiban has churned out so many films that have been both blockbusters and critically acclaimed. Although some of his films had substantial quality and failed to spin collections in box office, he won incredible laurels for it. But ‘Vithagan’ doesn’t boast of newness in the script as it focalizes on the factors of ‘Revenge’.

Analysis :

Well you can expect the typical style of dialogues from Parthiban and it evokes humour. Even the characterizations are very well caricatured. Poorna plays the clichéd role of a girl falling in love with a man. But her act during climax is little unexpected. Milind Soman looks perfect with his body language. But the sidekicks evoking humour isn’t necessary for the story, but it caters to the tastes of commercial film lovers.

Joshua Sridhar fails to live up to the expectations while cinematography by MS Prabhu and editing by Anthony is done with perfection.

Final Say :

On the whole, ‘Vithagan’ doesn’t have anything special and you can watch it once for the sake of entertainment.

Verdict: Average
